Scott has two decades of software development experience, including eight years in fenestration and earlier work in the food industry. He has worked on MRP software in both sectors, connecting software development with the day-to-day needs of manufacturing businesses.

He has built bespoke MRP systems for fenestration clients and worked with the industry’s delivery and proof of delivery (POD) systems. At Prefix, he worked alongside Ian to design and implement a bespoke MRP system tailored to the needs of the business.

Beyond manufacturing, his work includes systems operating at a global scale and complex distributed systems for household names. He has also worked on contact management and marketing systems for an international travel firm, and on Ethereum’s core code as part of its core team.

That combination of large-scale systems experience and manufacturing knowledge shapes his approach to Tessera: software that fits existing processes, gives teams clearer visibility and helps them catch mistakes before they become problems.

Ian has over 40 years’ experience in engineering, IT and business systems, with the last 25 years focused on the fenestration industry.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Ian spent the first 20 years of his career with a large UK steel construction company. During this time, he was part of a team that introduced 2D and 3D CAD technology at a time when computer-aided design was still in its infancy. He was responsible for CNC programming and later became involved in the implementation of an MRP system, gaining valuable experience in connecting engineering, manufacturing and business systems.

Since 2001, Ian has worked within the fenestration industry, initially with a roof system company before moving into the software sector, where he supported and deployed ERP systems for fenestration businesses.

More recently, Ian was responsible for IT and systems at Prefix, where, working alongside Scott, he helped design and implement a bespoke MRP system tailored specifically to the needs of the business.

This combination of engineering, manufacturing, software and IT experience gives Ian a unique understanding of how technology can be used to improve the way manufacturing businesses operate — from design and production through to stock control, systems and automation.
